CHINA DECISION-MAKERS BACK AMAZIA

08/10/2007
China’s State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) and The Shanghai Media Group (SMG), have given their backing to AMAZIA, the first Asian business-to-business exhibition and conference event devoted to the creation and distribution of international entertainment content across all delivery platforms.

AMAZIA will take place in Hong Kong, at the Hong Kong Convention Centre, from 17-20 November, 2008.

"AMAZIA is an exciting new event and I am convinced it will become an important platform for exchange between China's radio, film and television industries and our colleagues around the world," says TIAN Jin, Vice Minister, SARFT. "SARFT is delighted to support this event and encourages Reed MIDEM to build on the excellent relationships established with China's leading media groups at MIPTV and MIPCOM."

“The Shanghai Media Group is fully committed to working together with international partners to promote the new media business worldwide,” comments LI Ruigang, President of SMG. “I am sure AMAZIA will be an important platform for our exchange with converged markets in Asia.”

“The support of SARFT and SMG is hugely important for AMAZIA and extends the fruitful relationship that has been developing since China was the Country of Honour at MIPTV in 2004,” notes Franz Caduc, AMAZIA Director. “AMAZIA will be a unique opportunity for non-Asian companies to discover the vibrant Asian entertainment content industry, as well as the region’s world class new technology distribution platforms.”

First announced at MIPTV in April 2007, AMAZIA will be the only multi-platform, content-driven market in Asia. The event will play host to Asian and international content creators and rights owners including television and film production, and distribution companies, broadcasters, record companies, music publishers and distributors, live music specialists, mobile music services, online game platforms, as well as mobile operators, digital content providers, technology enablers, licensing and merchandising companies, advertising agencies and consumer brands that are looking to associate themselves with entertainment content.

In addition to exhibition & conferences, AMAZIA will offer 4 days of innovative content and platform showcases, numerous special events and networking services. From 17-18 November, AMAZIA will also host the Entertainment Leadership Summit, a strategic two-day think-tank bringing together visionary speakers from across the Asian and international entertainment industries.
